Falling Upwards

Falling Upwards
The world turned on its head.
In a moment … everything … changed
- Unhinged -
By your words.
I float unaware
Of the searing pain inside,
Cauterized by your venom.
Gravity loosed its hold on me
So I fall
…Upwards
Cognizant of my inverse descent
Away from you
… and closer to You

I don’t want to explain this poem just yet.  But, for any of you that are worried, this actually has nothing to do with me.  After talking with two people about relatively recent events in their lives and processing through that, this is what has bubbled to the top.

Sometimes a Nerd’s Gotta do What a Nerd’s Gotta do

So I’m a little bit nerdy.  Sue me.

Brandon and I have been talking recently about pooling our collective thinking resources and actually studying random things.  He wrote a very good entry about his thoughts on this, and it touched on where it started.

Needless to say, I’m pretty excited.  People always say I think too much.  For one, I don’t believe that is really possible.  My favorite rebuttal is that other people simply don’t think enough.  With that said, I’ll have plenty to be churning in my brain now.  We’re basically agreeing on a topic, studying it, talking about it, and coming up with a conclusion about it.

During the process I’m hoping to blog about what I’m learning.  I’m not sure if I’ll end up doing that, or save it all for the end.  But I think blogging about it will help keep me accountable to it, and it will also help me to process through what I’m studying.

I’ll keep you guys posted.

And on a secondary thought.  I haven’t been writing very much at all lately.  So I’m also committing myself to writing something at least once a week.  That doesn’t mean I will necessarily post it.  But it means that I’m going to force myself to sit down and write something.  Every Sunday night is the deadline.  Hopefully starting… now.

I took some pictures of a storm beginning to brew over the ocean tonight.  I hope you like the pictures.

Enjoy!

Easter

Easter seems to elicit a wide spectrum of feelings in people.  Some people feel guilty for their sins, others take it for granted.  But there must be some middle ground where we recognize our sins and the forgiveness of our sins.  And that middle ground is the beautiful place where we live in the freedom that is Christ.

The beautiful thing about this place is that we are no longer hindered by our past.  We are free to claim our place as the children of God.  Christ’s death and resurrection has afforded us this wonderful place!  We only need to claim this freedom by His name.

Our God truly is an awesome God!

Weekend #1

So this was my first weekend here in Florida.  Here’s a brief rundown of the events.

Friday we stopped working a little bit early and played some Halflife on our LAN.  It was a lot of fun to play computer games at work!  They even gave me more RAM and a beefier video card to handle the game better.  How cool is that??  After that Troy and I went to a bar for dinner.  I had some pretty tasty wings.  Our waitress, Nikki, was really nice.  We talked to her quite a bit and eventually invited her to come to a church event that is coming up.  She seemed like she really wanted to go, so we’ll have to go back and give her details sometime.  After that I went over to a place that some of Brian’s (Ramsay) friends were house sitting.  We sat around and chatted for a while, and that was fun.

Saturday I piddled around in the morning.  Troy and I played some Guitar Hero III for a while and then we headed to a Cardinal’s spring training game.  The Cards won, which was fun.  I came back and decided that I needed to go for a run.  So Troy went to lift, and I went out for a run.  In the pouring rain.  I got soaked, but it was a really good run.  Then a group of us went to a restaurant called “The Field”, which is a nice Irish Pub.  After that Troy and I came back and played some more Guitar Hero III.

Today I went to church with Troy.  After that a group of us went out to eat at Panera.  Then we played some basketball at the park and got rained on.  So we went to an old person’s bar and played Shuffle Board.  Now I’m sitting at the apartment waiting for people to come over and we are going to have some hamburgers on the grill.  Mmmm… grill…
